Celebrating the Flavours of Malaysia in London
On the 31st of August 2024, the High Commission of Malaysia in London hosted the much-anticipated Malaysia Carnival, and we at Halia x Cempaka had the privilege to be part of this vibrant event for the second time. This year, we brought something truly special to the table: our exclusive collaboration menu featuring Nasi Kak Wok and Banana Fritters with Cheese and Chocolate.
A Culinary SpotlightOur booth buzzed with activity as visitors flocked to enjoy authentic Malaysian delicacies. The highlight of the menu was Nasi Kak Wok—white rice paired with turmeric fried chicken, aromatic Kelantanese curry, sambal belacan, and fresh cucumber, all for just £12. It’s a dish that truly captures the heart of Malaysian cuisine.
Equally loved was our take on Banana Fritters (Pisang Goreng)—crispy, golden bites served with optional cheese or chocolate toppings, available for only £7. The combination of crunchiness with the sweet-savoury flavours was a hit among all age groups.
The AtmosphereThe carnival grounds at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre were alive with colours, music, and the delicious aroma of food. It was more than just a food event; it was a celebration of Malaysian culture, offering everything from traditional performances to exciting lucky draws with prizes like hotel stays and even flight tickets to Malaysia!
Teamwork at Its BestThis event showcased not just the collaboration between Halia and Cempaka but also the power of teamwork. Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to serve fresh, delicious food throughout the day. We were honoured to have esteemed guests visit our booth, adding a touch of prestige to our efforts.
A Growing TraditionBeing part of the Malaysia Carnival is always a special experience, and this year was no different. We’re committed to bringing authentic Malaysian flavours to London and sharing a piece of home with everyone who visits.
